North Carolina Accomplishments 2006
 

Central Piedmont

* Recruited over 90 volunteers who called over 4500 voters, knocked on over 2500 doors and distributed over 6000 leaflets. All voter communication highlighted Congressional candidates’ positions on higher wages, fair trade and universal healthcare.
* Helped make North Carolina’s 8th District Congressional race the 2nd
* closest in the country!
* Lead a grassroots mobilization campaign to raise North Carolina’s
* minimum wage by $1.00 and were leaders in the North Carolinians for
* Fair Wages coalition.
* Held successful Economic & Political Forums to pressure political
* candidates to take a strong stands on economic Policy.
* Lead Get-Out-the-Vote coalition of over 20 participating organizations.

 

Western NC

* Recruited over 150 volunteers who called over 6500 voters and knocked on 3700 doors. All voter communication highlighted Congressional candidates’ positions on higher wages, fair trade and universal healthcare.
* Helped challenger Heath Shuler defeat incumbent Charles Taylor by 17,335 votes.
* Lead a grassroots mobilization campaign to raise North Carolina's minimum wage by $1.00 and were leaders in the North Carolinians for Fair Wages coalition.
* Held successful Economic and Political Forums to pressure political candidates to take a strong stands on economic Policy.

Over 120 Charlotte residents attended WFW's Economic Forum in February 2006.

 

Eastern NC

* Recruited over 50 volunteers who called over 4000 voters and knocked on 3000 doors. All voter communication highlighted Congressional candidates’ positions on higher wages, fair trade and universal healthcare.
* Helped make North Carolina’s 8th District Congressional race the 2nd closest in the country!
* Lead a grassroots mobilization campaign to raise North Carolina's minimum wage by $1.00 and were leaders in the North Carolinians for Fair Wages coalition.
* Held successful Economic and Political Forums to pressure political candidates to take a strong stands on economic Policy.
